Russia launched a massive combined missile and drone attack across Ukraine in the early hours of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, killing at least 11 people and injuring over 100. The strikes targeted Kyiv, Dnipro, and Kharkiv, using Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Caspian Sea and ballistic weapons to hit residential buildings and medical facilities.

Dnipro suffered the most severe damage; seven people died and 35 were injured. Local authorities reported damage to 50 residential buildings and over 2,000 shattered windows. In Kyiv, four people died and 58 were injured. Strikes caused a partial structural collapse of a 9-story building in Podilskyi and a fire in a 24-story building in Shevchenkivskyi.

Kharkiv sustained significant hits in the Osnovianskyi industrial zone and the Slobidskyi district. In Slobidskyi, eight victims were reported, including seven with acute stress reactions. Power outages followed the strikes in Kyiv’s Podilskyi, Obolonskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts, while medical facilities in Holosiivskyi reported damage.

The Russian military used drones, ballistic weapons, and Kalibr cruise missiles launched from the Caspian Sea. President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned of the offensive through intelligence briefings. Following the strikes, Zelensky reiterated the urgent priority of securing additional Western interceptors to close the air defense gap.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and Dnipro Governor Oleksandr Hanzha provided casualty updates as State Emergency Service teams cleared debris from residential high-rises.

The attack follows intelligence warnings from President Zelensky, who alerted the public that Moscow was preparing a massive nationwide offensive. The use of Kalibr cruise missiles from the Caspian Sea underscores Russia’s long-range strike capabilities, while the targeting of residential high-rises and medical facilities remains a central feature of the campaign.
